There is evidence that supports that Carbohydrates in general (and glucose in particular) makes the absorption of water and electrolytes faster, improving proper hydration which can be key for performance in cardio exercise.
The long story resides in that, once water is drank, to be absorbed by the blood to complete hydration. However, if the water molecules are accompanied by sodium (an electrolyte) and glucose, it is far more easier for the body to absorb it.
