Helium is a privacy-focused, minimal web browser based on Chromium and developed by imputnet. It strips away telemetry, ad infrastructure and account integration from upstream Chromium while preserving compatibility with the wider extension ecosystem.

It is positioned as an alternative to other privacy-oriented Chromium forks like Brave or ungoogled-chromium, with a stronger emphasis on minimalism and a cleaner default experience.

Notable limitations

Because of the cost of licensing the Widevine Content Decryption Module, Helium ships without DRM support out of the box. Streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, Spotify or Prime Video will not play protected content until the CDM is patched in manually — see Playing DRM Content in Helium using Neon.
