Ukrainian-American sculptor born in 1899 in Kyiv, Ukraine, raised in Maine. Known for her monumental wooden wall assemblages — stacked boxes filled with found objects and painted in uniform black, white, or gold — she created immersive environments — most — that redefined sculptural space. Died 1988.
