In statistics, Moran’s is a measure of spatial autocorrelation. There are several variants, and therefore several uses for it.
Global Moran’s is a measure of the overall clustering of the spatial data. It yields a single statistic for the whole study area, and therefore assumes homogeneity. It is inversely related to Geary’s C, but not identical.
When such homogeneity does not hold, it is possible to use Local Moran’s , which computes the statistic for each spatial unit.
